International Women's Day 2025

International Women's Day (IWD) has been around for over a hundred years, as have many of the issues still impacting women's advancement. Since 1911, IWD belongs to all who care about women's equality, celebrating women's achievement, raising awareness about discrimination and taking action to forge gender parity.

This March 8th, we're recognising the accomplishments and contribution of women and girls in STEM careers.

At IXICO we are extremely proud of the significant contribution all our female colleagues make towards our mission of supporting the advancement of new therapies for neurological diseases. This year, we celebrate our amazing female Image Analysis team by highlighting their backgrounds, achievements and two of their experiences.

I’ve always been fascinated by human biology, particularly anatomy and pathology from a young age. In school, I found these topics incredibly interesting which led me to choose biology-related subjects throughout my education. I studied both Biology and Psychology at A-Level and then pursued a degree in Neuroscience for my undergraduate studies. For my Masters, I specialized in Cognitive Neuroscience. This path ultimately led me to my current role at IXICO!

Though I’ve only been at IXICO a short time, my proudest moment so far has been quickly integrating into such a close-knit, all-female team that has its own unique way of communicating about data. It’s been amazing to quickly pick up the terminology they use to discuss clinical data and already feel like a part of the team.

"I was driven by a desire to understand how things work, and science provided a way to search for those answers. I went to University to study neuroscience and was drawn in by the complexity of neuroimaging and the insights it gives us into understanding how we work ourselves and how we can use this to address the global health issues that neurodegenerative diseases create.

I wanted to be part of the journey towards curing those neurodegenerative diseases, which lead me here to IXICO. Though I’ve only been at IXICO a short time, my proudest moment so far has been quickly integrating into such a close-knit, all-female team that has its own unique way of communicating about data.

It’s been amazing to quickly pick up the terminology they use to discuss clinical data and already feel like a part of the team."
