IXICO plc (AIM: IXI), is a global leader in neuroscience imaging and biomarker analytics, using its proprietary AI-driven platform to help advance the treatment of neurological disorders and reduce the uncertainties associated with drug discovery, development and monitoring. As a key part of the global neurological disease research community, the Company has built a global reputation and 20-year track record as an end-to-end Imaging Contract Research Organisation (iCRO) working with leading pharma companies, innovative biotech's, disease consortia and non-profit organisations. The IXICO Platform is tailor-made for neurological disease, reliably processing data from global trials, precisely measuring key imaging biomarkers associated with the identification, progression and treatment of diseases such as Alzheimer's, Huntington's and Parkinson's. Image data is interrogated by the Platform and IXICO's expert scientists translating complex data into clinically meaningful while minimizing data variability and increasing reproducibility.
Our people are empowered to enable us to achieve our company goals and their own personal development through the “4A” values at the heart of our culture: Aspiration, Ability, Agility and Accountability.
To help us deliver our medical image analysis solutions to large clinical trials we are hiring an experienced and passionate Technical Product Owner to join our dynamic team on a permanent full-time capacity.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Own and manage the product backlog, keeping it well-groomed, estimated and ready for sprint planning
- Drive prioritisation, working with stakeholders and the VP Business Solutions to balance new features, technical improvements and defects against business value
- Work in partnership with the Delivery Manager and VP Business Solutions to ensure development timelines are maintained and the root causes of delivery challenges are explored and understood
- This role is not expected to line manage from the outset, but as the team grows there would be an expectation to take on line management of a Business Analyst — providing regular 1:1s, coaching, career development and quality oversight of analysis outputs.
- Elicit, analyse and challenge business requirements, translating them into clear user stories with well-defined acceptance criteria
- Work day-to-day with developers and testers, engaging confidently in technical discussions on APIs, data models and system behaviour
- Produce UML structural and behavioural diagrams, process flows and data mapping artefacts to communicate solution design
- Use SQL to interrogate data, validate assumptions and support requirements and impact analysis
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies including backlog refinement, sprint planning, reviews and retrospectives
- Review and accept completed work against acceptance criteria and the agreed definition of done
- Act as an advocate for transparency, continuous improvement and knowledge sharing across the organisation
What We're Looking For:
- A technically fluent product owner who can hold their own in design discussions with developers
- Someone decisive about prioritisation, able to say no with a clear, value-based rationale
- A clear communicator who bridges business stakeholders and the engineering team
- A mentor who takes pride in developing the analysts around them
Qualifications and skills required for the role:
Essential
Technical Expertise:
- Solid understanding of relational data models, data mapping and how data supports business processes
- Hands-on SQL skills for querying and analysing data
- Experience creating UML structural and behavioural diagrams
- Good working knowledge of RESTful APIs, system integrations and client web applications
- Strong knowledge of the software development lifecycle, with the credibility to engage developers on technical trade-offs
- Experience with backlog management tools such as Azure DevOps Boards or JIRA/Confluence
Product Ownership & Leadership:
- Proven experience as a Product Owner or senior/technical Business Analyst owning a product backlog
- Demonstrable experience of prioritisation techniques and making value-based trade-off decisions
- Experience writing user stories and acceptance criteria and facilitating refinement and sprint planning sessions
- Line management or mentoring experience, ideally of Business Analysts
Experience & Methodology:
- Proven experience working in Agile environments (Scrum/Kanban)
Education:
- Degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent experience
Personal Attributes:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to translate complex concepts for technical and non-technical audiences
- Analytical, results-focused with excellent problem-solving ability
- Decisive and comfortable taking ownership of prioritisation decisions
- Collaborative, proactive and adaptable team player with a can-do attitude
- Strong growth mindset and work ethic
Desirable
- Experience writing Gherkin-style (Given/When/Then) acceptance criteria and supporting BDD
- Experience of creating BPMN process diagrams
- Medical, biotechnology, pharma or other regulated-environment experience
- Product Owner certification (e.g. CSPO, PSPO) or equivalent professional training
- Comfort using modern AI-assisted tooling (e.g. Claude Code) to support analysis and delivery collaboration
Benefits:
- Competitive remuneration package including benchmarked salaries.
