As our great team continues to grow we are looking to hire a UI/UX Designer (Contractor) in a full-time capacity initially for 6-months.

Role Requirements:

IXICO is looking for an experienced UI/UX designer (Contractor) who is passionate about the entire process of designing end-to-end user journeys.

The post-holder will understand the importance of user-centred design and have a firm grasp of user research and business analysis, to champion interface design and good UX practice. The post-holder will work closely with the Product Owner, Business Analysts, Technologists, Scientists, Project Managers, Image Analysts, Site Management, and other system users to develop efficient, innovative experiences for our internal and external users.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the product vision by creating user-centric designs for multiple user roles of an extensive web-based application
  • Translate concepts into user flows, wireframes, mock-ups and prototypes that lead to intuitive user experiences and journeys
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to fully understand requirements
  • Present your ideas to stakeholders from different business functions and with varied technical backgrounds
  • Be an evangelist for the use of design methodologies along the entire solution development lifecycle
  • Collaborate with the team to develop design concepts, wireframes, prototypes and other UX/UI design deliverables
  • Support and conduct user research and usability testing
  • Represent internal and external users at design reviews
  • Maintain and update prototypes and wireframes during development and obtain early feedback on these from users
  • Ensure that consistent design approaches and styling are maintained.

Qualifications and skills required for the role:

Essential

  • Commercial experience as a digital UI/UX Designer
  • Experience of user-centred design principles
  • Experience of common UX design tools
  • Strong knowledge of usability, standards, and best practices
  • Knowledge of web technologies - HTML, CSS, JavaScript
  • The ability to create persona-based journeys
  • Experience with visual and interaction design tools
  • Experience with usability testing
  • Knowledge and experience of responsive design
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Analytical, results focused with excellent problem-solving ability
  • Pro-active and adaptable team player with a can-do attitude
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and requirements
  • Strong growth mindset and work ethic
  • Excellent communication skills (Fluent in the English language – both orally and written).
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or previous exceptional experience working within a UX/UI design role

Desirable

  • Online portfolio with examples of previous work
  • Experience in producing high fidelity mock-ups
  • Experience in working closely with Agile Development Teams.
