As our team continues to grow we are now looking to hire a Systems Developer.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, deploy and support IXICO’s Neuroscience Applications (primarily written in Java/Python) both front-end and back-end.
  • Work closely with other developers to undertake software analysis, estimation, programming, testing and debugging.
  • Work closely with the Director of Technology on best practices, new tools and technologies.
  • Provide second and third line support via our issue tracking systems
  • Participate in Agile Scrum team and promote continuous improvement process.
  • Create and maintain necessary documentation.
  • Participate in the innovation process by coming up with new ideas for company products and development process.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required for the Role:


  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institution in a technical discipline e.g. Computer Science.
  • 3+ years Java development experience both on front-end and backend.
  • 1+ year experience in programming using scripting languages (Bash/Python).
  • Degree in Computer Science or any other analytical or numerate degree.
  • Experience of Linux/Unix command line.
  • Understanding and working knowledge of Database concepts and technologies (RDBMS/SQL/PostgreSQL).
  • Understanding of Object-Orientated development.


  • 5+ Years java development experience
  • Understanding of Design Patterns.
  • Understanding of Agile concepts.
  • Knowledge of TDD and BDD.
  • Knowledge of Jenkins, SVN, Git and DevOps.
  • Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes
  • Knowledge of image analysis


  • Excellent communication skills across all levels of the business.
  • Strong organisational skills and great attention for detail.
  • Ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Strong team-player, who is acting in a professional and personable manner.
  • Highly motivated and driven to improve and develop processes.
