To help us deliver our medical image analysis solutions to large clinical trials we are hiring an experienced Senior Applications/Production Systems Engineer in a full-time capacity.

Role Requirements:

As such you will have strong experience in deploying and maintaining the production of business critical in-house developed software applications and software development. You will be working with our existing industry leading image analysis technology as well as helping us to bring our latest deep learning solutions to the market.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Applications/Production Systems Engineer to help us deliver our medical image analysis solutions to large clinical trials.

The post holder will have strong experience in deploying and maintaining production (live) business critical in-house developed software applications and software development.

The post holder will be working with our existing industry leading image analysis technology as well as helping us to bring our latest deep learning solutions to the market.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative, but not exhaustive of the role. There may be some variation and/or development of these duties and responsibilities without changing the general nature of the role:

  • Own our TrialTracker clinical trial image management system production environment.
  • Work closely with the Director of Technology on best practices, new tools, and technologies.
  • Work closely with science, technology, and development teams to undertake software analysis, estimation, programming, testing, and debugging.
  • Participate in an Agile Scrum team and promote continual improvement processes.
  • Create and maintain necessary documentation in compliance with required industry and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in the innovation process.
  • Working with Business Development and Operations to ensure that development activities are aligned with customer needs and new development requirements.
  • Participating in the internal and external audit process including authoring CAPA investigations and reports where technical input is required.
  • Providing technical knowledge and input to collaborator and client meetings.
  • Backing up the Senior Scientific and Technology Engineer to own the production analysis platform, working with IT to ensure sufficient compute capacity to meet our analysis needs.
  • Working closely with Quality to ensure efficient, up-to-date and practical SOPs and WIs for team’s activities.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required for the Role:

Essential

  • Graduate degree from a well ranked accredited educational institution in a technical discipline, e.g. Computer Science at 2.1 Honours level equivalent or higher.
  • Academic or commercial experience in software development and deployment.
  • Experience of web-based Java application development, including Apache Tomcat.
  • Good Tier 3/Tier 4 application support experience.
  • Change Management knowledge and experience across multiple controlled production environments.
  • Good understanding and working knowledge of Database concepts and technologies (RDBMS/SQL) including complex joins and queries.
  • Detailed knowledge and proven commercial experience of Linux (Ubuntu, Centos) platforms.
  • Practical experience of Virtualisation technologies including KVM/Hyper-V and Docker.
  • Expertise of scripting languages including Python and Bash.
  • Comfortable with producing software specification and other documentation to a high standard.
  • Knowledge of Application Security.
  • Practical experience of versioning systems, e.g., Git and Subversion

Desirable:

  • PostgreSQL
  • Apache 2 server experience
  • Automation tools e.g., Ansible and Puppet
  • Experience using Jira
  • Experience in Microsoft Server environments
