To help us deliver our medical image analysis solutions to large clinical trials we are hiring an experienced Research & Development Image Analyst in a full-time capacity.

Purpose of the Role

We are looking for R&D Image Analyst candidates who have a background in Computer Science, Medical Imaging, Biomedical Engineering, Neurosciences, or a related field. As a member of IXICO’s Research and Development team, you will be exposed to high profile projects in the field of clinical trials addressing a range of neurodegenerative and psychiatric conditions (e.g. Dementia, Huntington's disease, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, psychosis). The R&D Image Analyst provides support to Imaging Scientists and other members of the Imaging Science team in delivering novel analysis solutions for deployment in a clinical trials environment. Responsibilities includes undertaking analysis, supporting the development, validation, and documentation of new analysis solutions. In addition, the role holder may perform images quality checks and data management activities within the Science team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Contribute to the development of SOPs and Wis for analysis delivery
  • Undertake analysis of imaging data sets
  • Support development of novel datasets through data labelling and segmentations
  • Create programmatic workflows to automate processing and analysis
  • Undertake programmatic testing of novel analysis solutions
  • Assess analysis performance, generating reports and supporting documentation
  • Serve as first-line support for queries on image analysis solutions in production
  • Lead on the identification of solutions for fails in analysis solutions and, working with the lead Imaging Scientist, propose and implement suitable fixes
  • Record and manage identified problems to support continuous improvement of deployed analysis solutions

The R&D Image Analyst may also be responsible for but not limited to:

  • Qualitative review of images (e.g. MRI, PET) identifying and labelling data for future analysis
  • Perform data management and augmentation for large datasets for use in development of artificial intelligence pipelines
  • Develop tools to assist in management and transformation of large datasets
  • Providing feedback on improvements in the image QC, analysis, and site management processes. 
  • Assist in reporting of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) e.g. QC pass rates and analysis throughput.

Qualifications and skills required for the role:


  • Bachelor’s degree (e.g. imaging, life sciences, computer science) or equivalent technical or analytical experience
  • Ability to prioritise competing tasks
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures
  • Ability to work independently and in a highly regulated environment
  • Intermediate use of Linux operating system


  • Experience with a programming language such as Python
  • Previous experience with image processing techniques
  • Previous experience with basic neuroanatomy
  • Familiarity with virtualised environments such as Docker
  • Familiarity with PET and MR medical imaging modalities and clinical trial process
  • Experience interacting with large datasets
