As our team continues to grow we are now looking to hire an Image Analyst Supervisor. As a member of the team you will be exposed to high profile projects in the field of clinical trials (e.g. Dementia, Huntington's disease, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, psychosis).

Purpose of the Role

The Image Analyst Supervisor is a new operational team supervisor role, responsible for supporting the Image Processing and Analysis Manager (IPM) and Senior Lead for Site Management (SML) with the operational delivery of all activities within the Image Processing (IP) team. The responsibilities of the role include the line management of a team of Associate Image Analysts (AIA) and Image Analysts (IA), and the day-to-day supervision of data quality checks (QC), site management (SM) and image analysis (IA) activities across all projects to meet agreed milestones and targets. The role holder will operate within a small team of supervisors and team leads allocated to portfolios of sponsors and/or projects. The Image Analyst Supervisor may also be required to perform image QC, resolve data issues, and perform image analysis for clinical data received by IXICO in active clinical trials and research studies.

The key success criteria for the role are the effective management of a team of IAs working predominantly remotely in a fast-paced environment, maintaining open and positive communication to ensure adherence to procedures and coordinate training to increase capability and efficiency, and collaborative working with colleagues in Project Management, Data Management, Science and Technical Support functions, as well as external contacts at clinical trial imaging/data collection centres.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Line management and daily oversight of AIAs and IAs including setting tasks and targets and monitoring and reporting against these targets.
  • Train, mentor and support AIAs and IAs to be able to work across projects and IA tasks in an independent and flexible manner.
  • Review and QC the work output of the AIAs and IAs within the team.
  • Performing image analysis, such as whole brain delineation and endpoint QC, after suitable training has been completed.
  • Ensuring team compliance with Policies, SOPs and WIs.
  • Forecasting and resource planning for analysis and site management deliverables to meet agreed budgets and forecasts.
  • Assist with setting, monitoring and achieving KPIs and efficiency targets to meet customer expectations and turnaround times.
  • Coordinate training for team members to increase capability and overall efficiency in QC, IA and SM.
  • Provide regular progress reports on deliverables and any issues arising, including conflicting priorities and available capacity.
  • Ensuring Project Managers are provided with regular updates on image QC, data query or site qualification status on projects.
  • Provide performance feedback, workload balancing and coaching of team members.
  • Providing suggestions and implementation for continuous improvements in QC, IA and SM processes.
  • Oversight of departmental CAPAs and supporting the team in timely completion of activities related to CAPAs.
  • Deputise for the IPM, as necessary.
  • Communicate and/or demonstrate IP processes e.g. analysis methods to third parties, as required.
  • Providing site support for imaging related questions, data upload and technical issues.
  • Qualitative review of images (MRI, PET, CT etc), identifying any problems which may affect subsequent quantitative analysis or radiological review.


  • Bachelor’s degree (imaging or life sciences) or equivalent scientific or analytical experience.
  • 3 years + experience in a similar role, with team and line management experience.
  • Good understanding of clinical research phases and the processes involved in the planning and management of a clinical trial.
  • Evidence of quality compliance and continuous improvement within areas of responsibility.
  • Intermediate to advanced in the use of Microsoft Office software applications and clinical data management systems.


  • Good understanding of anatomy and its presentation within various imaging modalities.
