We are excited to announce that IXICO has been shortlisted for the Kent Surrey Sussex Academic Health Science Network (KSS AHSN) 2016 Awards, in the “Enhancing Innovation through Collaboration” category. The KSS AHSN will be holding their health, social care and life sciences EXPO event on 19th January 2016 and individuals, teams and organisations leading the way in improving patient care and outcomes will be recognised during an award ceremony.
Our entry, “Combining world-class computer-based tests of memory and thinking with automated analysis of MRI brain scans in a community based memory assessment service” is a collaboration between IXICO, Cambridge Cognition and Clinical Commissioning Groups in East Sussex, funded jointly by the Technology Strategy Board and the Biomedical Catalyst.
The study combines world-class computer-based tests of memory and thinking with computerised analysis of MRI brain scans used in leading international research centres but not previously available in the NHS, using IXICO’s Assessa® tool. Working together with commissioners and clinicians, IXICO and Cambridge Cognition have combined best-in-class technologies into a single streamlined service and the output provides clear and actionable reports for memory assessment teams. The technology deployed in this project enables clinicians to more easily identify and tell apart the signs of brain health conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease, cerebrovascular disease and other treatable causes of cognitive difficulty, such as depression.
The “Enhancing Innovation through Collaboration” Award, for which IXICO has been shortlisted, will be given to projects that can demonstrate collaboration with industry and, or academia and, or charitable organisations in developing innovation for the benefit of improved patient care and outcomes.
