To help us deliver our medical image analysis solutions to large clinical trials we are hiring an experienced Accounts Assistant in a full-time capacity.

 

Purpose of the Role:

  • Maintenance of the purchase and sales ledgers, ensuring appropriate control procedures are followed.
  • Maintenance of cash ledger, including payment processing and treasury reporting.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Monthly duties

  • Play a key role in the month end process from detailed ledger transactions to preparation of supporting schedules;
  • Issuing sales invoices, managing overdue receivables and regular customer statements.
  • Managing purchase invoice approval workflows, set-up banks payments and issuing remittances.
  • Review staff expenses and ensure timely settlement.
  • Maintaining fixed asset register and tagging newly acquired assets.
  • Support of monthly grant recognition.

Ongoing duties

  • Supporting the annual and interim report preparation of financial statements for a UK plc, 1 UK and 1 US subsidiary;
  • Management of the accounts mailbox, including the use of efficient filing systems;
  • Maintenance of an orderly and accurate filing systems on financial systems;
  • Supporting with grant audit processes, including dealing with queries and requests for supporting information;
  • Ensure progress made in respect of audit findings including ongoing financial systems improvements;
  • Ensure all financial processes are followed in accordance with company Standard Operating Procedures & GCP regulation (‘Good Clinical Practice’); 
  • Provide ad hoc reporting to support management decision-making; and
  • Support of wider company initiatives which could include office administration. 

System improvements and partnering

  • Key team player in the implementation of improvements to Sage Accounting to aid in increasing quality and efficient month end processes; and
  • Provide support to members of Finance with business partnering activities. 

 

Qualifications and skills required for the role:

Essential 

  • Working knowledge of double entry
  • Willingness to learn, "can do" attitude
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Excellent eye for detail and ability to work accurately
  • Confident with working with people at all levels
  • Competent user of Microsoft Word and Excel

 

Desirable

  • Experience gained within an accounting/finance team 
  • Practical experience with Sage accounting package
