Role Requirements:

  • Provide exceptional customer service in person and remotely (phone, email etc.)
  • Maintain the operations of the company’s servers, desktops/laptops, networking infrastructure and communications platforms
  • Ensure high availability of relevant systems
  • Assure compliance with relevant standards and benchmarks for IT security and reliability
  • Manage user accounts and access levels
  • Proactively identify and flag potential risks and weaknesses of IT systems
  • Support R&D developers, Programme Management Office (PMO), Business analysts, Operations, Quality/Compliance and others through the provision of an agile and flexible IT infrastructure
  • Participate actively in Daily Stand Up meetings
  • Assist in Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity planning.

Requirements:

  • Educated to degree level (B. Sc. In Computer Science or equivalent at 2.1 Honours level) or, alternatively, an exceptional candidate
  • Detailed knowledge and proven commercial experience of Linux (Ubuntu, Centos) and Microsoft environments (both are essential)
  • Experience of server builds and configuration
  • Excellent knowledge of storage environments and configuration
  • Postgres administration
  • Practical experience of Virtualisation technologies including KVM, Hyper-V, Docker, Proxmox
  • Scripting languages: Python, Bash
  • Automation – Puppet, Ansible
  • Monitoring, preferably using Nagios
  • Networking and Firewalls
  • Web hosting
  • Security – Anti-virus, Vulnerability Assessment etc.
  • Active Directory/LDAP
  • Backup solutions
  • Basic knowledge of telephony systems
  • Understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
  • Excellent communication skills in English language (oral and written); able to converse effectively with colleagues at all levels of the organisation

Desirable:

  • Up to date certifications in Unix and Microsoft areas are a definite plus
